CAI
« on: 09 May 2011, 00:09 »
Hello,

Has anyone on here got a cold air intake system? If so, which one? What would you recommend and why do you think yours is the best? :)

Thanks,
Dan.

Dan,
i went for the Carbonio stage 1,2      http://www.goapr.com/products/intake_carbonio_20tsi.html
Excellent quality and quite until you give it some beans  then you get a nice subtle induction roar and a dumping sound coming back through the intake system as it changes gear.
Cracking peice of kit and nice n tidy in the engine bay

Noticed your not far from me, more than welcome to come around for a test run

Thanks for the replies gents :) I noticed the MAF sensor is in a different place on the TSI rather then my TFSI? So I'll see if they still do the old TFSI piping :)
Where about do you live Neil? :)

The intakes for the TFSI are very different to the TSI, the Mk5 section will probably give you more relevant info on tuning stuff

Personally on the TFSI the ITG Maxogen is the one to go for.

Is the TFSI air filter built into the engine cover? Can it be changed or removed so I could say put a cone filter on the end? Looked today but didn't want to take the cover off :\

Yes it's built in and to run a proper CAI you will need to remove the engine cover.

it's possible to cut down the old cover and fit this around the intake tubing.
