Did a first test of this today, only 399 shots (maximum number the intervalometer will do before unlimited!).

Dead chuffed with the results, which are still processing at Vimeo:

This was all set in manual, after getting the shot/camera set up, then the images were taken at 10 second intervals.  Apparently 5 second intervals will give a smoother result, but this was me trialing the kit, results and process to convert the images to video. 

It's taken me about 2 hours to figure out the process to deliver the clip.  Not bad by my estimations and I can see myself doing a lot more of this as the results are a bit fab - speaks a lot more than stills IMO.

Weather looks good for Cowes Harbour shot from outside work tomorrow.

Premier Pro, set to 29.97fps.

Sorry I meant how many still images per second or are you using 29.97 stills per second?

Have you got a power adapter for your camera too then?

The test was shot at 10 second intervals.

No power adaptor, but three charged batteries!  It's been out there snapping away since before 9AM and the battery's not died yet!  Running on manual focus means each shot is a pretty low drain on the battery, although now I'm thinking, I need to turn off the display, I reckon!

Yeah the review is going to save you a bit of power, when I read through Thoms D300 guide one of the biggest drains is metering system, so you might want to check that too.

I think the harbour sequence is going to be fantastic.  I'm changing the location up every hour/half hour to get different views.  Already dreaming about motorised tripod heads and rail systems.

Harbour sounds good, if you've got after effects then you can quite easily turn it into a miniature fake with an adjustment layer 

ha ha check out some of the diy sites, there's loads of examples it's just making sure the motor is powerful enough to move the camera.

I'm planning to hire a tilt/shift lens later in the summer for precisely this purpose.
