CD Headunit wiring problem, any help appreciated!
« on: 25 March 2005, 15:05 »
Hi All,
Just bought my first car a 1990 Golf Driver (mk2 I Think)
the main problem I have is this;
The previous owner stated that the car had been broken into and the original stereo was stolen, to do this they cut the ISO connector off of the wiring loom.
Now my question is,
How the hell do I wire in the cd player/ AM FM headunit that came with the car? Does anyone know the wiring colour code and how is it best to go about it?
Many Thanks,
Matt

the best way is to replace all the wires now you have the chance. The standard mk2 wires aren't the best and you can swap them all for decent 16 gauge speaker wire for not much money. As for the wiring unless someone knows what colours are which I'd advise getting a volt meter and testing them like that.

if you are changing all the speaker wires the one behind the glovebox is a right sod so when you remove the old one pull the new one through at the same time.
