I'd say its a genuine reason, I'm in a similar boat, my golf does 50miles max a month as I use the train to work, miss's has a KA, cars still of this age to have an ok resale value, which means whether you like it or not people like to see stamps in the log book. Plus it is a huge running cost, road tax, tires, brakes etc soon adds up if all you need it for is 100miles max.
Like I just bought road tax, it needs new tires and a MOT soon, yet I only do a max if lucky of 50miless (had a few months when I didn't use it), is there a point to keeping it? Miss's has a car which I could go down on insurance wise, or I could sorn it if I had a garage or drive (which I dont
