At the end of the day if Wayne doesn't want a car, he doesn't want one! Simples! he is going to be saving a few bob over the year that could be used else where. I'm sure he will access to another car, should he require the need to use one.

Here's a plan then Wayne, sell it and with the mnoey you save have a project like a mk1 or a mk2 that doesn't need tax and mot etc.

I'd say its a genuine reason, I'm in a similar boat, my golf does 50miles max a month as I use the train to work, miss's has a KA, cars still of this age to have an ok resale value, which means whether you like it or not people like to see stamps in the log book. Plus it is a huge running cost, road tax, tires, brakes etc soon adds up if all you need it for is 100miles max.

Like I just bought road tax, it needs new tires and a MOT soon, yet I only do a max if lucky of 50miless (had a few months when I didn't use it), is there a point to keeping it? Miss's has a car which I could go down on insurance wise, or I could sorn it if I had a garage or drive (which I dont  ).

Or maybe his getting abuse that comes with the log book, if he want to sell, he sells, simples?

Sell it and get a proper project. You don't need a daily so get something that needs some TLC.

If you don't use it that regularly then an Octavia VRS is a lot of car to be sitting unused.

Well had little or no luck with selling it and then it went wrong again, the before cat Lambda has died, should get it back tomorrow all fixed but it is yet more money that I did not want to spend on the car.

Plan b is to run it until the tax is up then maybe look at breaking it.
