MP3 player with USB connection
« on: 30 April 2011, 16:09 »
What do I need to connect this into the Media in port? Is there an adaptor lead that will enable me to plug in a USB device?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

With the mk6 you usally get two cables included a ipod one and a normal usb one.  If it treats the mp3 player like a flash drive then it will mostly likely work fine.

Cables you say? I've just got the 2 sockets. Maybe the previous owner has got that on a shelf next to the bottle opener and the wheel center cap removal tool?

Ah you will have the MDI socket the, which is the one under the arm rest, this is where the one of the two cables go, when in use.  And the Aux in normal jack socket.

Yep, that's right.

Thing is I've had the car for 2 months and the dealer is 80 miles away.

When we picked the car up it had no mats in it. I asked where they were as GT's should have them. He said it was a used car and if the previous owner had taken them, that's just too bad. I wasn't having any of that and needless to say, came away with a new set of carpet mats. I don't think I'd manage to get the lead out of them now.

It would seem aswell people are trying to sell the Ipod MDI cable for around £15 on ebay too, no sign of the USB one.
