exhaust manifold studs snapped :@

so i noticed i had a blow .... took a look on the manifold and two studs have sheared off :@ , not ammused ? , so one is sticking out the block can be removed easily one has totaly gone clean to the block .. my questions are ,


anyone know what size they are ? and where i can buy some ,
secondly how the heck am i going to get the second one out the block :( ,
its a 1.4 8v 1996 standard shopping cart (: ,

drill it out but be carefull

or use a dremmel to make it into a flat head screw driver thing you could get it out like that

Worst comes to worst, if you still got all of the other bolts, just exhaust putty it around and let it stay on with the other bolts.

You can buy a broken bolt extractor kit. Wich has screw like bits that have revers threads on them.
You drill a hole in middle of stud then screw extractor onto it then just under it and take it out.

on that diagram its stud numbered (3) which isnt noted on the drop down list , i took a quick look on wagenstead , and looked on the head secton and found

3  N 044 410 4  stud  M8X28  5  , sound right ? ,

Another method mate if your any good with a mig welder or know some one who welds you could hold a 13mm nut (with pliers lol) over the sheared stud and put a strong puddle weld inside the nut aiming directly at the stud then simply unscrew after about 10 seconds ,the weld also heats the stud often breaking the corrosion in the treads,this has worked for me many times,hope you get it sorted :smiley:

I totaly forgot that method , I have got access to a welder , wouldn't work for the one flush in the block i don't think :( thanks !

it would work on the one sheared off alrigh just use a nut smaller than the bolt so weld will only make contact to the bolt not the manifold
