Terrible news... the b@stard should be shot.
On the plus side - no one was hurt.  A car can be replaced - people can't.

sorry to hear it. Still beats the method our guys here use. Stop behind a car at the lights, car stops just behind you and you get a gun in your face. You get out real quick...

A lot of people are not aware of what is going on around them. I have lived in Africa most of my life and it's a different mindset and one that has held me in good stead. I have been mugged twice in the UK, they got nothing but a hiding from me in one incident and a face full of tear gas in the other but i have never had a problem in Africa. Common sense rules of travelling apply.

Don't let what you read put you off going to South Africa or Africa in general.

Very sorry to hear your news Simon. I had my Mk5 GTi taken in similar circumstances last June. I replaced it with a Mk5 GT TDi, which is very boring in comparison, but at least my wife can sleep at night......

Not sure if I would replace a GTI with a new one if someone broke into my house and stole it. It’s a really tuff and difficult decision.

I would be in two minds, i.e.

1)  As a car / GTI enthusiast why the hell should I let thieves dictate what car I drive. :undecided:

Or

2) As a family man I wouldn't want any harm to come to my family or put them under any more stress if thieves broke in again  :undecided:

We got burgled when we were away for the night about 5 years ago and my wife has never really settled in the house since. Now we are currently in the procecess of selling and buying a new house partly because of this.
