Simon: May I suggest you use a Disklok for £75 (can be viewed on the picture thread) on your steering and attach its key to your house keys. Even if they get the car geys, they won't be able to steal the car.
Not to be picky but the way they went and distroyed everyting else in their way its not going to slow them down much. The disklok can be beaten but not in under the 5min thatcham tests with the tools thatcham use but there is ways round it.

Gives the cops 5 more mins to appear though, and they may give up if they feel its taking too long.

Exactly and possibly a bit more than that. Besides, they will think twice at having a go on a  Diskloked car plus they won't know which house to target for the keys as the car is parked on the street away from the house.

Oh, and there is another trick with the Disklok that even if you had the key you won't be able to open it. You have to buy one to find out!  :lipsrsealed:

If your thinking about an ECU mod REVO have a switch than means the car won't start even with the keys!  Worth s look I'd say.

I use a Disclok on mine - wherever it's parked, either at home or away. I'm not saying for a minute it's the be all and end all solution but if it means they move onto another car cos they can't be arsed with the hassle of removing it then job's a good 'un.

Today at about 1600 my house was broken into while no one was home, they smashed the side gate, broke into the shed then forced two back doors and once in side broke into my safe and stole the golf keys.It was last seen going down the m54 towards birmingham. This was all done in broad daylight .Wife and kids very upset i am currently waiting for a locksmith to come and make my house secure.

Simon, i hope your family are ok. It's an awful feeling and reading your post is one of my worst fears realised. Karma will find them and let's hope that when she does, she also finds them all amorous cell mates who are hung like Elephants.

We had the head of the burglary division for the whole county around yesterday he was amazed at the lengths that toe rag had gone to get the keys to my golf, he added that he could not remember this happening in my area while he has been in charge (6 years). He also added that the toe rag that stole it will probably only get £500-700 for his troubles as he will sell it on to someone else.

Thanks for your kind words everyone  enjoy your bank holiday and look after your cars.
Golfgti build quality is average at best.
