Simon

Gutted for you, always felt like you and me had a lot in common, ordered cars almost the same day and took delivery within days of each other.

So I know how you must be feeling, but at the end of the day it is just a car and can be replaced, you will never be able to replace your children so it is gratifying that you were all away from home.

Hope you get sorted ASAP, thoughts are with you.

So sorry for you, hope things get sorted out ok for you and your family. I'm considering getting rid of mine having read this and other threads that are running on GTI and R thefts. Only had mine since last July, but the thought of it bringing this much hassle to ownership is just not worth it to me. I'm going to seriously consider my options over the next few days

I kind of understand how you feel but getting rid of a car i assume you love just because it MAY get stolen is madness! Doesn't that mean the scumbags have won? Please don't take this as a dig at you as your family will always come first as will mine but letting the filth of today rule YOUR world is crazy. This happens everyday and as i said in my earlier post it makes my blood boil when you work hard and buy the things you want and some tosser thinks he deserves it as much as you!

Interestingly the reason cars are actually safer parked on the street is because it's harder to tell which house has the keys in.

Sad times, I've had two cars stolen and I know exactly how you feel. In all honesty you don't want it back as it'll never feel the same. It's most likely already in a crate on it's way to the middle east or eastern europe anyhow.

I feel it must have been a professional job, without going into too much detail they were very determined and went to great lengths to get into my house once in they only seemed interested in the golf keys and high value small items which were with the keys . My only hope is it’s never found, I loved the car but it’s not worth the hassle if people are prepared to go to such lengths to steal it.
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

like u say Simon, it does sound like it was stolen to order, not a random burglary and car theft due to a safe being forced etc.

Hope the wife n  kids get over it soon,
