Hello chaps,

I'm getting a mobile service on the go for the latest secure processors etc and I'd like your input on the design for the van - it's booked in to be done next week.

Looks good but my comments would be:

1. Watch the typo on 'guarantee' over the left indicator and on the back doors. Currently reads '100% satisfaction gurantee'.

2. I'd take 'Carbon' off the GTD plate. There is a lot of visual clutter on the van already and it's a bit like a billboard, people are going to get a fleeting glance so you need to make sure that what they read counts.

3. Typesetting is slightly whimsical - emboldening words for emphasis is fine but why bold 'rolling' and not road. No problem where you have 'more power, more torque' because the emphasis is right.

4. Why not change the livery of the van and brand the vehicle as 'Mobile Service Van' or something instead of stating 'Mobile Service' as a benefit.

5. Why have the address on the van? If people want to find you, they can go to the website or pick up the phone. Nobody is ever going to write down an address off a van but they might take a phone number or url.

6. Possibly put the marques you deal with or specialise in on the vehicle - just logos somewhere, people will join the dots. Otherwise they may not think it's relevant to them or assume that you just do diesel Golfs.

I am suitably impressed, nay very impressed. I wish you were in London. Can't you start a company just for me down south, please? I'll make it worth your while.
Think we'll be having a trip down soon ;-)
All excited now.

There is a good reason for that imo.
Why because pikeys don't have a fixed buisness address but they have professional sign written vans

I like the thorough critique above, some already noted but others not, thank you

The address is on their so that customers know were not just working from a van.

I'll consider your other very valid points

At his young age he may have to have open heart surgery you know.....

The map switching units I use along with REVO etc won't work on the vast majority 2010 vehicles due to the secure ECU software.

Yeah, that's obvious but Doc is stating that he is established and it just takes saying 'workshop/mobile service' versus stating a 20 line long industrial estate address on a vehicle to make the same point. It's the subtle persuaders, you don't have to be overt. Established x years, workshop/mobile service, high end marques = credibility.

I pretty much doubt that anyone who has a high end vehicle is not going to do their homework before letting anyone loose on an expensive vehicle.

So

I think your right, it has become too cluttered so I'm thinking.....

Move the address down to the bottom of the side loading door

Get rid of mobile service & 10 year gtee

Check spelling!

Move remap for more power / torque into the black band on the sides

I kind of like the carbon reg over the st09ght thing

You're welcome Doc. I've worked for and with top London ad agencies for a long time so hope I've learnt a thing or two along the way.

There is a framework for devising a creative brief that is used almost universally (every agency likes to make theirs 'original) but it boils down to: 'Who are we talking to?' 'What are we saying?' and 'Why should they believe it?' You can apply this to just about any situation in life where you're communicating with people.

Just make sure you have rights clearance on the photography as well, copyright holders generally seek much larger sums for infringement and there is something familiar about that shot. Ignorance is not an excuse and the courts will be unsympathetic.

I think the guarantee is a good thing to talk about, it provides reassurance about your legitimacy.

I'd try your statement about more power/torque reversed out on a black wipe down the side. It'll provide much more stand out. I'd question the mobile number being on there, keep it simple.

I like the custom plate but only if it doesn't fight with all the other copy.

Design wise, it's a bit messy how the designer has finished the bottom left door and I'd have offset the Golf to lose the GTD grille badge or move it so you can see 'GTD'. Otherwise, it feels like the designer hasn't thought about the flow of the design at the back.

Hope this helps.

It's all good, thank younand your advice is much appreciated

It's my fault that the rear door looks a mess, I came up the idea, then got carried away with gettin the vans VW badge used as the cars grill badge
