i think who ever fitted it needs a kick up the rs!!!! its on the p1ss and looks a bit cr@p tbh, although to get it to work in any car is a piece of cake to get it to work properly you do need the sensor from the gear box of the car your getting the dash from, the rest is easy youll need a vauxhall ashtray manual (haynes or better) and a golf/corrado what ever manual (haynes or better) and its just a case of taking the correct feeds from the plugs to the old dash and connecting them to the correct inputs on the plug on the digi clock, youll have to make your own loom bit to join sensor from gear box to dash, thats if the sensor fits into the gear box and reads the lug correctly, if not youll need another plan, but they are that easy to do, you just need to put your sensible cap on and not be drinking or smoking whilst doing!! lol

but WHY on earth youd wanna put one of them into a vw i dont know?????

soory but sensor from the gear box???? the vw in question has cable dive. the vauxhall would of probably been cable drive too with the analogue to digital conversion done at the back of the clocks. even if it did take the trigger from the box trying to stuff it into the vw box wouldnt work.
if it was electrical pickup the easiest way to do it as i have said is to run the spedocable to a box with a spinning disk in which is then used to create the pulse signal, you could rebuild the internals of a gearbox to do it but it probably wouldnt work and would cost 100x the money

i'm sticking with "it looks crap" followed with "and why would you do that anyway?". much easier argument to defend ;)

ashtray gtes dont have a speedo cable, thats why you need the correct sender from the gearbox to match the dash, it dos work on a pulse system like you suggested but this is standard on the cars with the digi dashs (vauxhalls) i should know as ive had a few in my time and have put the dash's into other vauxhalls.

in that case you need to make a sender that runs from the CABLE feed vw have as i said you could convert the gear box but thats the 1000 option and building a sensor to run from cable drive to then feed a pulse to the dash would be the ?40 option i know which i would pick, but then i need to save money
