If you're putting your battery in the boot and enclosing it like that, I would connect the vent on the battery to the outside.

Should be small hole on the side of the battery. You can fit a little elbow into it (Some batteries come with them) and a bit of tube to the outside.

I think its hydrogen gas they produce normally, but they can produce some horrible fumes if something isn't right.

Battery in the boot needs to be a sealed type with a vent pipe to the outside world, standard battery will be no good and if anything could be dangerous.

Isn't it normally the battery that causes cars to burst into flames when involved in an accident?

Thanks for the thoughts guys, but my dad works as a caravan engineer and has told me everything i need to do to make it safe, if it can sit in a caravan then it can sit in my boot
Everything will slowly come to light

So is it a sealed battery, if not then it will vent hydrogen which in a enclosed space is not good.

Nop it is a vented battery with a breather pipe, whitch shall lead to the outside of the car, and the mdf box shall be made sealed at the bottom incase of a leak

So a vented battery with a breather pipe isnt so bad im guessing? its either this or find space in the engine bay, its a 1.4 so there should be room? what do you reckon?

so last time i was on here i think my car looked something like this

Well after this photo i have been doing a lot of home spraying and managed to get the car to look something like this

As you can see it now has part coloured coded bumpers with a gloss black strip all the way round the car and if any of you remmeber it used to have a black boot well you will happy to know now it has a red one

So the last two things that have changed since that photo are............ Coilovers
