Your converting the GTI to 4 stud
Yup. Well if I put the brakes on my 1.6 with the abf init, it's considered an upgrade, but on the gti (basicly the same car bar two doors) its considered unsafe . I can't see it myself. Yh okay the wheels will have for less bolts holding them on but there still gunna be safe. And i think the insurance company would be more concerned about a 1.6 with and abf init then a gti with oem 4 stud brakes

And i think the insurance company would be more concerned about a 1.6 with and abf init then a gti with oem 4 stud brakes Completely the wrong way of looking at it and I doubt your insurance company will share your view, a mk3 GTI was built with 5 studs and uprated hubs and bigger bolts for a reason and not just for fun.But I have nothing more to say on the subject as I think it is madness to even consider it all, even more so when the wheels you have are available in 5 stud.
