Indeed I had a mk2 GTI 16v "project" that I planned on doing  up but simple didn't have the time.I work 11hrs a day SET (ever less) 6 days a week.So i only get sunday off then i've normally got other things to do etc.If you've got more time on your hands then go for it.

Well the plan is either pick up a cheap mk2 nd do it as a project (only work 7 nd half hours a day 5 days a week)
Or pay tidy money for a good one!
Always wanted a mk2 and fancy a change from the mk4 but wana try stayin with vw!

spend as much money as you can in the first place TRUST ME!..
To bring a sligthly ruff car up to standards is alot harder as you'll end up replacing everyihing and spending £1000's... let someone else do the work for you like one of the members off here

i use to be a great lover for the old mk1's and 2's but since owner a mk4 i would not go back to old as a daily, its nice to get in a car with all the mod cons and not break down every 5 mins!! comfy ride, heating, power when needed is a win for me!

im looking at another mk1 aswell as my mk4 for the summers as they are great cars just not as a daily

You probably could use one everyday with if maintainng it very well (Wax oil etc) But when you get one..get it fixed up/look sweet. You really gonna wanna use a classic like that everyday?
