Hybrid turbo

Hi guys

As most of you know i have the Leon Cupra which has the 150pd engine with 169k on the clock.. Its done a lot of miles but i still want to have a bit of fun with it as im finding 196bhp pretty boring 

Ive read odds and sods on the web and seen some websites with some stupidly high figures on them lol

When i had my 1.8t going the hybrid route didnt seem to expensive.. on turbo dynamics website they have a stage2 turbo for £885 but im not sure if thats me sending mine or just them sending me a new turbo ??

Ive read you can get about 240bhp with a stage2 map and uprated injectors as the FMIC is good for more than that.. is that really true just them 2 things ??

Anyone know any cheap places to hybrid a diesel turbo ??

The words cheap, hybrid and reliable don't go together 

Personally I'd stick to one of the more well known companies, have a word with Bobby Singh over on UK-MKIV's he really knows his onnions with the hybrids and can advise on injectors and fueling etc.

Yer I would use a decent company to do the hybrid and get RTech to remap it custom.. I just don't like the thought of paying jbs £1300 for just the turbo alone !!

I am curious whether someone like CR turbos or midland turbo do this sort of thing guess I will have to give them a call..

All jbs said is uprate the turbo and bigger injectors.

You're only looking at the peak gains

Look at the average area of the curve and look how much power is available across the rev range 

Also I don't think Greg's has bigger injectors    There was until recently a myth that you slap on a hybrid turbo and you'll see an easy 225bhp +.  It wasn't until a RR last year that a lot of hybrid diesel owners finally found out the truth 

It just isn't possible on the standard injectors - not without pushing them to beyond their limits which also gives you a very smoky map.  Then of course you shorten their life span considerably

As Neil said; hybrid, cheap and reliable never fit in the same sentence

As Rhyso said Greg doesn't have bigger injectors, Bobby, Fenwick or Ray (aRd) have done loads of research and they would be an ideal starting point for the questions, wouldn't want you wasting money on a hybrid if there is a better way

Ray, Bobby and Stu are running a different turbo all together on a custom manifold with bigger injectors - Ray got arround the 250 mark on a RR day last year and that wasn't mapped correctly either.

Cheers Neil and Rhys... Are any of these guys on here or can you get emails for them by any chance ?? i want roughly 220-240bhp will be happy with 220 but would prefer 240 obviously..

I will upgrade the injectors as i know they pants past 215bhp but i cant see replacements being that steep tbh..
