MPG
« on: 11 March 2005, 16:33 »
my 2L 16v was running well rough and l had to drive at 50-60 on the motorway, while it was like this it said about 35mpg. l've changed the ECU & fuel pump relays and its running better than ever but at the same speed it says 27mpg, does it work out the average of the journey so far or what its doing at that moment. l'm not going to get to worked up over this because its nice to have it running so well, l'll just have to stop looking and just fill it up when its empty.

Cheers
Rich

have you changed the MFA position?
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

It may be on position 2 which is the average mpg since you last reset it, not like position 1 which is a trip computer

MFA position,? l didn't know you could change it or reset it? :embarassed:
so thats what the 1 & 2 are for on the switch, l thought that was something to do with the intermittent wiper.

No as stated before position 1 is kind of a trip computer, position  2 keeps its memory till you reset it

at 50-60 you should be getting much more than that!!!

i get about 40 if i do sit at that speed, i get on average 35 if it sit on a constant 80mph

at 50-60 i would get 44 over a hundred mile journey. 27mpg sounds about right for setting 2 if you do mostly town miles

To reset the MFA stats , select the position you want to reset  , and then move the switch to the nearest 0 on the stalk [left if pos 1 right if pos2 ] its spring loaded and you will have to hold it there for a couple of seconds .
