hi there, i am doin a national deploma corse in motorsport at askham bryan, and i was wundering wot would be some easy engine modifactions i could do at home?

was thinking of a taking the center box off and adding a cherry bomb to the back, OR no silencers and side exit

your doing a motorsport course and you thinking pissing aout with the exhaust is going to make it lots faster
has lots to learn yet.
a good tuneup will proably help more, check injector spray paterns, a more intresting cam, 4-1 manifold and headwork is how to make them go better, but you havent said what engine yet

i no the basics about the exhaust, but been injection wouldnt you need to remap it? its a 1.8 16v kr engine

its k-jet, so the fuel is mechanical and not done by an ecu.
A cheap, nearly free mod would be to de-restrict the airbox and put a cold feed to it.

rematch the injector flow rates, do the wur reg mod and set the co to 2%
if you feel flush and don't mind running it on super unleaded have a play with the ignition timeing and try setting it to 9 deg btdc as opposed to 6 deg.

Cut the fins back flat on the inside of the air box so the air flows freely through the box.
