16v k-jet vs 16v ABF
« on: 22 February 2011, 00:10 »
Hi gents

I'm seriously thinking of doing the conversion, I love the originality of my valver however the reliability stinks!

In your humble and educated opinion's, what are the pros and cons of the conversion?

Will I lose the fun factor in the high rev range that I so love?

k-jet = easy to wire in, thats just about it really
digi = easy to setup as no co or ignition tuning required, all ecu controlled

digi has proper knock control so its better able to keep the abf healthy, k-jet you need to keep on top of it to stop the think knocking itself to death. to tune k-jet properly you need access to k-jet fuel pressure test gauges.

I've run mine on both, and digi wins for me

You will gain fun factor not loose it! Plenty more torque, dont fuel it with k-jet, its old and fiddly.

If your kjet setup is working fine, and you want the conversion done in a day, leave it on kjet. If you want a bit better fuel economy, go for digi.however, a digi loom is then needed and all digi ancillaries, the loom then needs splicing in to yours before plugging into the engine, and really you've got to take your dash out to do this..I had to remove dash to do my kjet, as it was a carb before. I used a complete kr car for everything I needed. Had I known what I know now I'd have prob done it digi, as I don't plan to sell the car etc etc, so the extra work would have been worth it to me..

I believe later cars are plug and play so easier.
