yes you can but it is very tricky fiddly getting the circlip on.

I found it fiddly enough with the shaft off the car
I'd like to see someone try with it in situ

I did it myself on the roadside in 0 degrees weather a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned on here about my gearbox prob, so had to put another box on and a new joint.

I have just bought a 2nd hand drive shaft from ebay, complete with CV joints and boots in tact. Can someone please confirm whether it is just a like for like swap? I read something about the CV boots being glued or something? I'm going to fit it tomorrow, any advice before i start?

Cheers

Yes it is just a swap. My advice is make sure you get the right tool for the inner cv bolts. Iis a spline fitting tool size 8( I think). Its not torx. When doing them up, go opposites and torque them gradually and evenly.

I think so yes. The one I used had an 8 on it, so I presume its 8 mm.

ok, straight swap then. some have the cv glued to the hub, but im pretty sure this is only done on some VR6 models.

very worst case leave the cv in the hub, tap out old shaft and either rebuild it with new cvs or tap off the outer cv on the replacement shaft and swap it over after fitting a good outer cv boot
