Door hinge replacement.
« on: 16 February 2011, 15:57 »
Im going to be changing the doors on the Golf ready for its respray soon.As the hinges/pins have dropped on my current ones im going to get some new hinges.
However my hinges dont seem to look like normal mk3 affairs. In Etka for my year of car, they seem to have some grub screws on the centre of the hinge, mine dont.
Will all others just bolt on?Or did the hinges have a different pcd the later the car got?

Im guessing they will be a pain to change as they have torx bits that are bound to be seized solid.

Heres what mine look like now(crappy pic)

This is what ETKA says.

Also is there anyway of adjusting my type of hinge to stop the sag while i get my doors on.

Cheers

You can adjust them up using a wheel bolt between the bottom hinge and gently closing the door. It bends the hinge slightly to get you at the right position.

The pins are very worn on mine so it will more than likely bugger it completely.

Can always try it if they are being replaced anyway. Nothing to loose.
