im not sure it is on the abs. i have looked for it before =/ plus there is something bolted into the rad that looks like it could be a temp sensor lol

what do you mean by abs? The item on the radiator is the fan switch I think.

No the radiator one is the fan switch, temp sender is on the head or the water outlet subjuct to engine.

Have you checked the rubber flange gasket on the botom of the throttle body? They are prone to going on these, and makes the engine act like what you have described. They are just short of £20 from gsf.Check it by spraying some clutch or brake cleaner around the throttle body when it is on idle,if it surges or makes a difference to the idle then this wil be the problem.
But like i say it wont hurt changing it as they are a common problem.
Infact ive just changed the one on mine.
I have alsorts of spares for this engine so if you need anything(including a temp sensor which i have and works then gimme a shout)although you would be better off buying a new one for the sake of £8

that flange your talking about, i replaced mine not too long ago as well the whole thing was disconnected didn't realize for about 15000 miles didn't seem to affect the running at all, and no difference when fixed, which i thought was unusual.
and ill keep you in mind when more of my sh!te breaks lol. ima give euros another try for the sensor.
