oil pressure light

more help required

oil pressure warning light appear on for a few seconds while driving usually between 200 and 3000 revs also sometimes happens when going round corners, car has recently been serviced with semi synthetic oil, oil lever as it should be. any help would be appreciated

oh its a 1.8 8v gti PB engine code 1988 model

Hiya, i had the same problem on my 16v after and engine swap,

i just got the oil pressure switches from the donor car and used them, it now never buzzes at me anymore.

On an 8v there is one above the oil filter and another one on the right hand side of the engine, as u stand infront of the car.  :smiley:

its good to know its only the pressure switch, a nice cheap repair :laugh:

if it happens when going round corners its normally an indication that the oil is too low so as it sloshes to one side of the sump the pump can't pick it up. but you say the oil level is fine?? errm don't know!!!

Gotta say i agree with gtijoe. Double check your oil level and make sure its topped up to the max.

Make sure the yellow plastic piece on the dip stick is all there, they do break and it could be making the dip stick go down that bit further than it should, giving you an incorrect oil level! only a couple of quid to replace :)

pick up pipe for the oil pump could be gumbed up with crap can cause insuffucent pressure.
