If you are looking to remap your car the 130 always sees the highest torque figger over the 150.

 is that correct, I wonder why that would be.

Ay.  Most 130's will see over 310lbs ft torque.  150's tend to max out at around 295ish  :undecided:

Not sure why.  Possibly because the turbo starts spooling earlier  :undecided:  I'm sure someone will be along with a more technical explanation  :nerd:

Interesting, cheers for the info :afro:

I ended up going an seeing this car on my launch break:

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_popup.jsp?did=685&pageid=4&originalid=&gid=nogroup&tid=20&start=3&distance=0&adcategory=cars&channel=DEALERPAGE&id=201105378498457

Its a genuie 150, not leather interior but has the ARL engine code, 70k on the clock. got the MOT number and did a mot histroy check. Milage checks out.

The car has a service history although the there is 30k miles between the second last and last entry which is worrying but maybe it just wasn’t stamped. Was mot'd in that time between stamps twice which it passed with no advisories. The toothed belt which I assume is the timing belt was changed around 30k so I assume at 70k it will be due another one?

Looks good on the outside especially with those 17" alloys but inside its seems quite worn and well used and breaks look a bit rusty through the alloys although I’m not sure if that’s an issue.

The car is due another mot and service which the garage owner says he will give me if i buy it.

Not sure though, on the plus side 70k on the clock is good but not if it needs a cam belt.

I think 5 grand is a bit steep for this car? Maybe if I could knock a grand off the price and get the mot and service then it would be a good buy?

If only knew a Golf mechanic or enthusiast around the central Scotland that could help me make a judgement  :embarassed:

Over priced

Wheels are the Santa Monica's.  Awesome wheels but prone to corrosion so a refurb will be needed sooner rather than later

No xenons, leather etc

I'd walk away as I doubt you'll haggle a grand off the price and get it serviced and MOT'd  :undecided:

Yeh it is overpriced thats why I just went to look at it today and been up forsale for a couple of weeks.

Assuming it did get MOT'd and serviced what sort price do you think its worth?

Im waiting to see what else comes on the market though.

£4200; £4500 tops  :undecided:

Cambelt will need doing shortly so there's another £300

If you're not 100% happy with it then walk away.  It doesn't seem like it at the moment but your perfect Golf is out there

Also make sure you drive as many of the same variant's as possible.  You'll be shocked at the difference in performance between them

make sure you get a 150 which has been serviced every 10k minimum!
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

I have an 04 150bhp ARL with 167k on the clock was getting serviced every 2 months within its first 2 years.. Not skipped a beat so far with me.. never had cam problems.. i read up a lot on this and was told it was mainly the cars on long service and not fixed service intervals.. My cars never had the camshafts changed..

As said earlier the 130 and 150 share exactly the same head so are prone to the same camshafts problems..

I have the graph for my car and for a 150bhp car it made 196bhp and 309 ft/lbs of torque..

Get the 150 if you can.. but as i was told dont be put off mileage as long as its been well looked after !!

They seem to want even more for a Leon Cupra than they do for a Golf! And the Leons almost never have leather or the added extras that golfs have.
