Sealant or replacement for this part - please look

After taking the door card off and doing a water test i've found the culprit for the leak! As you can see in the photo its the outer rubber window seal whch has perished in the bottom left corner. I have duck taped it up temporarily but does anyone know if this can be repaired with some sort of sealant or do I need to get new window seals? Im thinking a sealant may not work as the windows need to be able to go up and down (eg. dont want to glue the window shut!)

If I need new seals is this a VW dealer only part, if so any ideas how much, and how easy are they to replace?

It needs replacing really bud, my first thging to try would be a window seal from a scrappers cos as far as im aware these are not a common place for leaks. Easy to replace, just wind the window all the way down and the seal will pull upwards (from the bottom edge) as its only pressed on.

I think you will find that water is meant to be able to go down there and out through drain holes in the bottom of the door.

Yep spot on, it is meant to go down and then drain out.

Check or replace the door membane, that should then make sure the water goes out of the drain holes.

Ive done a plastic sheeting and duck tape job but can you still buy the thick black foam membrane / sound proofing from VW? I destroyed mine trying to get it off! Id quite like to get a new one and put it over my bodge job for extra insurance - the black stuff they seal them on with looks pretty epic?

Duct tape and plastic sheeting will be ok.

you can get the foam, but not the older type plastic bag stuff thats on early cars

i got the foam ones for mine a couple of years back, it comes on a roll u have to cut yourself
