to the crusher!!!
« on: 08 February 2011, 17:16 »

after 6 years of loyal service my first mk2 1.3 is on its way to car heaven

the car was brought for £400 from an old fella who treated it well.

i did strip most of the parts off her and have either sold, reused on my GTI or put them in the shead!!

should have at least kept all the door handles and the rear bumper

smooth boot may have made a couple of quid too

I don't think a semi will give the same results

You should have kept all the doors and the boot.  They look in good nick and a worth a few bob.

My 3 door 1.3 in Mars Red is mint having been dry stored since 1999.  It is the first car I owned, so loathed to get rid of it.  Plus its a MK2 as well.

Tend to find the 1.3 shells are in much better condition than others as they haven't been messed with.

the shell had rusted!! the smooth boot was letting in too much water as inside it was falling apart.

i left on that door handle as its a sh!tty non gen one. The other three are OEM and are tucked away in the shed.

the rear bumper took a very bad knock and was all smoothed, i was toying with the idea of putting it on my white GTI sprayed up body colour but im not wanting to colour code it all anymore.

ha ha!!

i did have the car up in the breaking section but not that much interest. the doors had the usual parking dents and scratches so people who did come have a look were not really keen.

the inside was completly gutted!!! everything gone!!
