I have a 1990 driver that's been broken at the mo... Then off to the car grave yard in the sky..

Not by choice but rust & Pot holes has gotten the better of her sub frame :-((

Some bits fetch good money but others nothing, Storing really nice bits for my car in the future!!

OP; what did you get as scrap value?

i got £50 for it. that is probably way low but i needed my driveway back so i just bit the bullet and got rid of it. i made about £100 by breaking bits and many other parts transferred over to my gti plus parts in storage, so im happy with it.

i thought that parts would be in demand but i had a lot of time wasters

Surely that's not a major issue worth scrapping over?

Not worth £700.00 to fix and no guarantee it would be 100% sorted when it came back...

Bought a much nicer car for less than the repair and as I said we are selling all the bits off, so should end up in profit at the end of it...

Was always the plan with this car anyway...

Fair one :( I'm in a bit of a situation at the mo, I've got two/three leaks, a new windscreen may be a neccessity and possibly some welding over the front wiper blank :( gonna take it to the bodyshop tomorrow to get a quote.

Less on the road so if you ever go to buy a new one it would be more expensive, prices are rising :(
Good for selling, bad for buying.

Prices for good ones have always been strong.... I saw an valver in Oak Green at my mates garage last month and the guy paid £5K for it and then spend £2k putting new bits on and sorting out issues with it... Seems he used to own a Lambo...

with so many being broken at least you can still get parts for them at sensible prices... 6 Million were made so should be plenty left somewhere in the world...
