I'd say it's not a GTI/GTD Doc, it's got a cream headliner too.
Think it's a GT with a Roc steering wheel?

Are you working for MI5 like Steve30?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Exonian - I tried that one but believe it or not I actually listen for the creaking noise!!! Weird eh?

Wow Snoopy, yours are strange - I can tell you even though mine creak they do not make a noise like yours when pressing them like that.

Doc - thanks for the offer, much appreciated but I got in touch with the dealer this morning and I got the car booked in for Thursday for them to have a looksee.... fingers crossed they can sort it out.

And yes, Jimble must work for MI5 - how else would he know that it is a GT with a Roc steering wheel

Will let you know how I get on....

I was only pulling your leg and had no better suggestions. Noises like these really get on my tits too and the more you know they're there the more you listen for them. I'm just like you in that respect.
If you have a 5 door Golf, have you noticed how VW were so tight that they didn't re-design the B pillar lower trim so the cut out still has the mk5 Golf door trim recess?

I remember that ad well. I had a mk2 Golf at the time that squeaked like a b@stard. Probably should've sued VW for false advertising!

Update:

Just picked up my car from VW after telling me they have fixed the problem... and guess what.... they have!!!

They even told me that the passenger door was making a noise too and they fixed that also!! LOL, I didn't even know there were any noise coming from that door! I am well impressed

Apparently the door card had worked loose so they replaced it, refitted and padded it out and repacked the loom and hey presto - no more noises. Just to make sure I drove home along one of the bumpiest roads I know of in my area and not a creak or groan from the door. Only time will tell but for now my problem is resolved with much satisfaction.
