Exonian - I tried that one but believe it or not I actually listen for the creaking noise!!! Weird eh?Wow Snoopy, yours are strange - I can tell you even though mine creak they do not make a noise like yours when pressing them like that.
Doc - thanks for the offer, much appreciated but I got in touch with the dealer this morning and I got the car booked in for Thursday for them to have a looksee.... fingers crossed they can sort it out.
And yes, Jimble must work for MI5 - how else would he know that it is a GT with a Roc steering wheel

I was only pulling your leg and had no better suggestions. Noises like these really get on my tits too and the more you know they're there the more you listen for them. I'm just like you in that respect.
If you have a 5 door Golf, have you noticed how VW were so tight that they didn't re-design the B pillar lower trim so the cut out still has the mk5 Golf door trim recess?
