you need to take off all the surrounding plastic bits, air vents and stuff.then you will see screws holding the surrounds on. once you have all this off?? you will see the clocks set back. undo the screw either side, tilt the clocks forward, squeeze your hand behind and take electric plug out, then simply unclic from the locators. be very careful. anymore probs let me know??

Its a matter of a few screws to get the unit out:

1) Take off the panel to the right of the headlight switch (the ABS/airbag thing) and take out the headlight switch to reveal a screw to the left of it.

2) Take off the panel to the right of the radio which would house the heated seat switches if you have them to reveal another screw.

3) Remove those 2 screws and you should be able to remove the plastic surround from the main dials unit

4) This will reveal 2 more screws either side of the main unit - remove these and the unit can be removed - but first you have to disconnect the fat connector at the back, situated roughly above the speedo at the top left.

5) Then its just a case of taking the unit apart to get to the dials

Hope this helps...

If you are looking for different colour dials try looking in the scrappies for a silver set from an ibiza gti, they slot straight in and if you make a hybriid of the golf/ ibiza clocks then they work perfectly.

I got a set for a fiver from the local boy.
