when you say changed ecu i take you do know that you will need correct ecu for car and chip from the key and the ring leader that fits on ing barrel otherwise it will not start...ie all three items from doner car...if you have a spark and it fires with some easy start then i would say ecu issues...

i was told if i got an ecu from another car, same engine code,AGG, i could just have the ecu coded to the car using VAGCOM which is what i have done..  :undecided:

mate of mine did it.  former VW machanic, this car has now beaten him aswell :( None of the ECUs showed any faults on VAGCOM, same prob with all ECUs

sounds like something is not talking to something! but you prob allready new that :grin:try the easystart and c if it fires if it does than you can start rulling things out...defo strange one :undecided:

It may be worth trying a new battery as although you say you have a good spark it's possible to have the engine cranking over with a spark but just not a good enough one to do the job.

Good luck with it though!

if you crank it with the plugs out, do you get smell of fuel?  How fast does it crank?  Does it even try to catch?

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

you get a smell of fuel without removing the plugs. and it turns over FAST, but no doesnt catch

oh.  Fuel leak?  If it cranks fast - i.e. sounds like it just spins - sounds like it has no compression.  Can you compression test it?
