Mk3 golf GTI 8V non start

Alryt guys and gals,

am im desperate need of some advice and hope i can get it here. I have pretty much tired out all other sites and still have the probs.

please bear with me through all the following info, its been ongoing for a month now, and im struggling through it (im not too machanical)

Car
mk3 golf gti
8V AGG
116000 miles

Problem
Car will turn over but not fire or start
It IS sparking
It IS getting fuel

What I Have Done

Changed
Plugs
Leads
Ecu (have tried 3)
Coil (have tried 2)
MAF (have tried 3)
Crank Shaft Sensor
Temp Sensor
ECU relay #30
Fuel pump relay #167


Checked
Timing at both belt & dizzy (spot on)
Fuel getting to rail (removed fuel lines at rail and is getting plenty fuel)
VAGCOM (showing no faults)


The imobilieser i have is the "key fob" type, with red LED just under key barrel, touch fob on LED area and imobiliser disarmed (its a standered VW imobiliser i have been told)
if i try to turn the car over without disarming the imobiliser it doesnt turn over, so i have ruled out imobiliser fault. (plus the imobiliser will not prevent car from starting, it will cut it out after 2/3 seconds, or so i have been told)


Of the top of my head i have now brought you guys up to date, but i am now lost. I need this car back "yesterday" and am out of ideas.

Can anyone suggest anything please. but please where poss explain things idiot proofly lol

A chap on here had a very similar problem last year with his 8v. Turned out in the end to be a dodgy ECU earth. He also spent a fair bit replacing parts before someone did this for him. Might be worth a try Mate

any idea where to find this earth mate? i have checked/cleaned all the earths i can find.

how did you get the problem? did it just not start one day? or has it been playing up before it stopped?...

its first prob i have had with the car. car drove fine, parked up at night, went out to start next day and nothing!!

might sound strange fella! but have you had a go at tow starting it?....are you sure you have a spark?

yeh, defo has a spark, and a good spark at that. And tow starting it no i havent.

try some easystart up the air intake and c if that fires up...had a prob on mine last year done my head in...turned out to be crank sensor which went brittle and shorted out my ecu,took me nearly two months to solve problem and lots of money..dont give up mate

will do, however having changed my crank sensor and ecu i wouldnt have thought that would be case would it??
