That's a shame re the LED ones but the other Philips ones you've ordered look the same/v.similar to the ones I had. They were much better.

Anyone know what the law is for DRL lights on what light max output etc and what the norm is for them output.

ECE R87 is the reg covering drl's.

From what I've managed to find out they must emit white light of between 400 and 1200 candela luminosity... basically that seems to cover pretty much everything from a sidelight bulb up to a 55W low beam. The idea though is that the light is emitted primarily in one direction (forward) in the same way a rear fog lamp does. 21W bulbs seem to be commonly used.

They must be no lower than 250mm, no higher than 1500mm, no closer together than 600mm and no further from the outer edge of the vehicle than 400mm.

My new front bulbs have arrived today. I'll have a go at fitting the fiddle little f***kers at the weekend! I'll try and align them myself if required by taking a note of where the beams lay on my garage door before and after.... very scientific

Whilst talking of lights I met up with SteveP last night and he kindly coded in my new Golf R Rear LED's in. They work perfectly with no bulb errors which is a result. The lights look fantastic. Really pleased with them a great cosmetic mod which I've been wanting to do for ages. I know its been done before but I'll try and get some pictures up with the new lights fitted over the weekend for the record.

Congratulations Martin. You must admit they are so beautiful.
Lucky you did not have any lighting problems. Mine was a pig for SteveP to sort out, but sort out he did after 3 attempts. He showed geat patience and fortitude.

Yeh love the lights..... this is sad I know, but when it was dark this morning before I set off for work I  kept locking and unlocking the car.... just so I could see the new lights go on and off. The neighbours must think I'm a right numpty. Light goes on, light goes off and on..... and off

p.s. Steve and I met up in your neck of the woods in Hammersmith . We could have all met up and had a rear LED gang bang

Yeah. I still do this. They are such eye candy. I also know how much more other drivers are enamoured with my rear nowadays.  :embarassed:
Just be careful they don't get too close for a shafting.

Oh dear.

Just went outside to check the new Philips bulbs in the dark for the first time. They are soooooo white, Xenon-like and beautiful but the DRLs, Park Lights and Fogs are soooooo yellow in comparison.
What can I do now?
Are there any H15 bulbs, 5W5 bulbs and Fogs that are whiter and easy to fit & without bulb error problems ?

Healp!
