Story of my life. Always pay over the odds. Never mind, at least I got all my lights re-aligned for free. :lipsrsealed:

Anyway, Adrian, at least you bought the Philips. How much were the Osram on Amazon, I wonder? £15?

£13.45 for the Osrams on Amazon!

Thanks to my local Motorist Discount Store I paid nearly double! I suppose its the price I pay for zero patience!

Had my Philips X-Treme Vision bulbs inserted by VW dealer today. They had to re-align my lights including high beam. All done FOC.
Philips seem less yellow, brighter & with less scatter. So worthwhile IMO.
A half-way house between standard Halogens and Xenons. Maybe good enough for me for now. :undecided:

Ordered a set today to see if they improve the stock bulbs which I'm sure they will

Found them on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/PHILIPS-H7-EXTREME-100-BRIGHTER/dp/B0045YELE8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296503966&sr=1-1

at £30 so happy wih the price too

Great find uncle Buck........... good price, just ordered me some up

Need to order some sidelights now.

Silly me though just had my car serviced at VW... I should have timed it so they could have fitted the lights. Oh well I'll have a go myself.

Once I fit these I'll look at the side lights. Either LED ones or the Philips 'Ice' ones (had them on my Audi and they were much crisper/whiter.

Would it not be nice to get, at a cheapish price, Bi-Xenons even if they are the older type?
There is now a dedicated sticky for Xenons as a constant reminder to us who were too mean to factory specify them in the first place.

I have just replaced my Philips Extreme 70% bulbs with Philips BlueVision Ultra

Definitely a much whiter light, haven't noticed any drop in light output as they say they are only +30%, still fighting the xenon upgrade

It's a W5W, some options HERE
Thanks

Anyone seen any very very very very very very very very very bright LED replacments for W5W that are used as sidelights on the xenon cars as im looking at trying to fool the car into thinking it has the new LED DRL xenon lights but use the older xenon sidelight as the DRL.

Snoopy, I wonder if these Phillips LED sidlights would fit and work of course....?
http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=179

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks
Martin

Your all to slow...Wake up everybody! I've answered my own question......

I emailed Powerbulbs and here is the responce regarding fitting the Phillips LED sidelights.

Thank you for your email.

Yes, they are exactly the same fitting as a standard W5W.  Please see below, the advice given on our web site:

Note: These bulbs are designed for interior use. They can be used in an exterior application but it is not road legal to do and, in addition, due to technical differences between LED and halogen technology, a vehicle warning light may be triggered depending on the configuration of your vehicle. This is more likely to happen if your car was manufactured after 2005. Should you choose to use the product in an exterior application, and a warning light is triggered, we are unfortunately unable to provide any guidance as to how to disable this.

If there is anything else we can help with then please don't hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Sandra

Power Bulbs

Ummm so its a yes they fit, there not road legal and you will get a bulb warning light.... Oh well worth a try
