ok so as some of you no i have been fixing my car after a breakdown and she runs like a dream after new coil i fitted today but after i finnished fixing her i took off my vr6 front skirt/air dam and noticed something hanging down from the bumper.

it is on drivers side just infront of the wheel arch and its hanging down from onside the bumper.

its like a metal tube with a wire atached to each end.

Well I've just had a quick look in the Haynes Book of Lies and can't see anything in there. It looks like it's got electrical wires going into it so best bet is to try to follow them to see where they go.
Almost looks like some kind of auxillary battery possibly for an after market alarm? A complete guess though unless it really is a pipe bomb buts let hope not!

Having a look at it now and it is a hollow metal tube with wire on each end. There is a metal bracket it clips into so have just clipped it back in.

Ah just had a brain wave.
Could it be an air temp sensor for the injection system?

I don't think so. And the outside temperature sensor is located in the off side front lower bumper grill.

Thats correct it causes the dipped beam to come on very dim when the sidelights are on. It often fails and the wires short on the bodywork causing problems.

Just remove it.
