« on: 18 January 2011, 17:57 »
hello, ive been offered a mk1 golf cabs for £250 but has been sat outside for a few years and needs a fair bit of work i should imagine, im going to look at the car tomorrow ive been told its got rips in the roof so the inside is probably all mouldy aswell.

can anyone give me a bit of advice on what i should be looking out for and how much i could get a decent roof for it

are you going to fit the roof yourself?  will the rear window surround need replacing? headlining? probably an idea to check both.

have a look here... http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=18122.0  that should give you the heads up on what to check... however for £250 I wouldn't expect a stunner!

if the interior is mouldy/filthy it is possible to clean it up with the right materials and a bit of patience

Gets some pics up when you can..... be good to see what you're looking at... there's some good info and guides about roof repair/replacement in the Maintenance section HERE
