IIRC the standard GTI ones are 20mm and a lot of the upgraded aftermarket ones are either 25 or 28mm.

driver will be 18mm and gti as stated is 20mm (and to fit a gti bar you need the arms too!)

Ahhh great stuff thanks. So if i get the anti roll bar 2 track control arms and the brackets underneath that will do me then?does it matter that im running 4 stud as im sure ive read somewhere that the 5 stud wishbones are a little wider. It looks a pain to do too but it will bug me if i dont do it!

you cant fit a mk3 gti bar without changing the wishbones and the bearing carriers which means goign 5 stud.  fit an uprated MK2 golf/corrado 4 stud one instead, G60 bar is 23mm.  SEAT Ibiza/toledos have 20mm+ as well, get down scrappy and have a look

So if i go for an uprated G60 affair im looking at just changing the front drop links and the 2 brackets underneath?

with the g60 bar the inner brackets and bushes are the same as the 18mm ones, just the outer drop links need doing. the other vag bars may need the inner bushes changing, depends what you get hold of :)
