Roof aerial seal UPDATE steam gone :)
« on: 15 January 2011, 16:34 »
Anyone know where I can get a seal for the base of the roof mounted aerial? Inside of the car is getting steamed up so I'm looking for a leak somewhere and am thinking it could be the aeriel. cheers :)

Doubt it is the aerial, check the rear lamps and the sunroof drains if you have one fitted.

I cut a new seal from black rubber sheet and finished the job with a carefully applied smear of sealant. Ultimately it's a bodge but it does the job and you'd have to be a bit keen to spot it even if I do say so myself!  :smug: Might also be able to something similar with an o-ring or some other type of seal.

I used part of a old inner tube for mine, worked all ok.

I doubt a water leak would allow the windows 2 steam up.... I would say your heater core is leaking ???

If your sure it's the seal (which do commonly fail and do cause condensation!) then find a big hella dealer as you can buy all the aerial bit's separate (or maybe try ebay?)

I haven't got a seal  it doesn't seem to be leaking so not a big problem, however I do want to replace it.
How do I get it off to replace the seal? thank you

Sorry but that is bullsh!t. Condensation on windows is caused by water in the car, a leaking rear light seal would certainly allow enough water into the car to cause condensation. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that the heater matrix is leaking

To get off you have to release the headlining at the rear. Then its just one nut.
