Did you pick up Golf+ this month? It had a big spread on engine conversions in there - 1.8T, R32, 2.0TFSI etc. Might help you with your decision.

Lets be honest for a second or 2, to get a 2.0 TSFI in and working is beyond a diy job plus you need to find a doner car and I would suspect by the time it is finished you will have knocked a hole in £5k +

TSFS beyond a DIY job, nope. QPENG are making a Plug and play loom for the mk1,2 and 3

Still got to sort the fuel system etc, still cannot see it being easy.

But they have made it a hell of a lot easier.

Guess so but I am not keen on qpeng, removes too many safety features for me.

What you get for the money from QPeng is pretty poor, an ECU with 90% of the standard safty features plus a loom you have to supply them with gets a few wires spliced in for a grand. No thanks!

Get yourself a standard ecu and loom from a 1.8t and mod it yourself (guides are around, theres a good one on ClubGTi with pics and easy to follow instructions) or there are people on here who can mod it for you for around 300, if you wanted it mapped aswell as long as you get it cheaper than 700 you are cheaper or equal to QPeng plus you have a much better management system and none of the hassle that comes with running custom management (like garages not wanting to touch you with a barge pole etc)
20vt conversion, sig pic coming soon!

I agree to a point, hence why I'm using standard management with Stu's car. But I don't see the big problem with QPeng, its fine to use and I don't think people should slate it, its a quality bit of kit and they try to help with any problems you have.

Given, its expensive and that's the mostly the reason why we and many other's now choose to run the standard ECU and the fact its easier with all the help available too.

Alex :)

I'm not slagging off QPeng at all I've not heard of too many problems and certainly not any more than people who run other managements, and they are pretty helpfull with any issues you have. Just think its not worth near £1000 :)

Would not work on a VR as you only have one bank and manifold.

Anyway mate. Golf + had loads of info on engine swaps this month. Think it was part 2 too, so if you can get hold of last months issue it might have other options as well as the modern lumps.
Project longterm Airbanger.

1.8t is the easiest and most cost efficient way to get better performance out of a mk3 :)
