New hood for clipper
« on: 26 August 2003, 20:34 »
Alright chaps,
I have bought a clipper goolf this weekend but it needs a new hood. Does anybody know where i can get one in the south and how much i'll be looking to spend.
I think it is only torn on the outer.
Cheers
Tom

I thought these prices seemed very reasonable:-

do you maean roof or tonneau cover? if its the cover you are after then when you get one, make sure its for a manual roof (if thats what you have) as I noticed a difference between mine and Richs' with the securing straps. Mine had extra straps on for some type of earthing strap to stop you powering the roof up with the cover on. If you dont need them they could flap about and possibly scratch the paintwork!!!

I think my cover did have those extra straps that you mention, originally. They were just simply cut off by the previous owner.  :-\

Do those prices include fitting? If not is it possible to fit it myself?
Thanks again

I'm sure I read somewhere that the price did include fitting, however I can't find where it says that. Might be worth getting in touch with them to find out.

those prices shown were very reasonable but i expect it doesnt include fitting  and fitting is a specialised job i had the outer hood changed about 8 years ago by an agent of 'Hoods Galore' in Cardiff and it cost me then i believe about ?480 supply and fit and its still like new but it only gets dry day use only since........wyn

I spoke to fellow cabrio owner at VW-Action and he recently contacted the site.
As 'a9wyn' says, the price does not include fitting.
