wishbones ?(mot ? )

 hello people
 just a quick question b4 i go mad stripping more out then needed
 cars just failed mot 2 things
  high emissons think ive sorted that !!
  now the problem on the n/s ft subframe (rear engine support) i have a hole size of aa battery by horizontal bolt on wishbone i can weld it ,just wondering if im able to remove the two bolts holding the wishbone on ie one going to floorpan VERTICALLY and HORIZONTAL ONE ,can i get away with out having to remove trackrod ends ball joints etc just need some space and i would imagine the heat from welding will melt the wishbone bush by said bolt ,just neeed it to drop move by a couple of inches. note not welding wishbone just subframe hole ,please advise its a job for tomorrow hopefully.max

they allways go there.

sometimes theer easy to weld with everything in,  sometimes there nigh on inpossible to repair in the car and it can be quicker to drop the subframe.all depends how poxy it is

not a big job the heats my main worry just cant be done in stiu needs a liitle movement on wishbone just not looking to remove the lot if avoidable. got a couple hours to fiddle with it tomorrow

if push comes to shove you can undo the nuts on th roll bar link, and the balljoint bolts where it slots in and get the whole wishbone off (mark where the balljoint sits to stand a chance of not sodding up your geometry). if you get the other ones out easily (the fronts are simples but the bigger rear ones sometimes put up a fight) you will have enough movement and wont need to but if its stuck it will probably be easier to wrestle with nothing else attached.

car driven on to ramps , jack under rear engine support  just in case it gives way, plus axle stand under n/s ft jacking point , all this and took all of 2mins to remove one horizontal bolt (19mm)  was able to pry wishbone out of its housing cleaned up offending area and plate welded subframe all put back together and just need to resubmit for mot wont be till  monday .im just a bit shocked at how easy it all went ,god i love my little welding kit!! worth its weight in gold lol

jammy bugger! i spent about 2hours getting a rusted solid wishbone bush out once!
