cumbria  and roads = POTHOLES  I KNOW..

Tell me about it

Get on the Cumbria County Council website and report any near you!

I feel for you man :( Hope it isn't too bad to fix!

Cheers, i'm hoping i'm just thinking the worst, I had a quick 10 min look earlier and i'm thinking the noise may be the manifold heatshield. The more I hear it the less it sounds like it's blowing. It sounds almost like the tappets, but I did the screwdriver test and i'm pretty sure it isn't  :undecided:

The screwdriver test??

Engine running, one end of the screwdriver placed on various places on the rocker cover, ear against screw driver.

It helps to identify where rattles can be, i.e. if the tappets are noisy when you do this the noise will be louder in your ear because the sound is amplified through the screw driver

dom it could be the manifold heatshield as the ally cracks and loosens the bolts so it does rattle a lot on tickover.

Yeah, i'm swaying towards that at the moment, I'll have a proper nosey at the weekend when I have some daylight. If it is the heatshield, is there any way of sorting it? I used jubilee clips on the cat heatshield but the manifold one is a lot harder to access  :undecided:

Initially I though so, but now i'm not too sure. I may have just been thinking the worst, a couple of others have listened to it and said that they don't think it's blowing. As above I'll have a really good poke around at the weekend, hopefully it'll just be the heatshield
