Biggest issue for me with insurance at the moment is the post code lottery of insurers.
I had a 07 GTi which was insured through Greenlight, which was brilliant (approx £500) and then swapped car for 335d BMW and was a minor change (about £100ish). Then sold my car as was out of work and cancelled my policy. Bought the .:R 6 weeks later, phoned them and wouldnt even insure me because of post code. Asked that I had been insured with them for 3 years, how come? They said it was becuase they now classed me as new business and therefore post code restrictions in place. :embarassed:
Aviva for me were about £1500

Ended up with Adrian Flux and pay approx £900 FC am 32, with 6 yrs NCB and 3 points. Go Figure ;-)
Having owned performance cars for the last 6 years, I do find specialist insurers are best if you getting high quotes. But if you live in nice area, and tick all the boxes some main streams will insure you fine.
Insurance is a disgrace to be honest...its getting ridiculous. Worst of all, this is forcing drivers to no insure cars which then crash into us and as a result, our premiums go up again. Vicious circle imho.
Rant over ;-)
