You can actually get any colour Volkswagen.de list as an option. All you have to do is contact VWuk and get them to put in a special request. So the colour range is not as restricted as alot of people think.
Well I has my dealer if I could have the Rising blue and they said no you can only choose the colours available for that model. Or is that the norm from dealers they don't know what they are talking about?

The Blue Graphite is nice when it's clean and polished, which Prospero isn't at the moment!
So is that the colour you chose? Well if you think thats blue you must be as colour blind as VW. ;)

In Aus, we only get a choice of 5 colours, none of which are blue, the Rising Blue is only for the R, unless I wanted to wait for 3 months this was the only colour available, but I like the subtlety of the silver. but really wanted the Rising Blue.

It is as Asker posted with the colour chart, any of these colours are available but will cost you 2000+euros more.

When you have already paid almost £30000 for a new car having to pay extra for a particular colour liking is daylight robbery, but VW have us over a barrel and they know it.

I would have loved my GTI to be dressed in most of those lovely blue shades but no way was I gonna pay them any more of my hard earned wonga

Mind you in saying that I do love my Deep Pearl Black.

If you read the whole of my post, you'd have seen that I'd have preferred the colour to be lighter and more blue.

But still, in what way isn't it blue?

I saw a Passat in Shadow Blue and felt that was too dark also, and I liked the shade rather less.  I don't know what that is in your sig, but it's nothing like either the Passat I was shown as "Shadow Blue", or the sample colour tile in the showroom.

Anyway, Carbon Grey is very popular, and if the Blue Graphite isn't blue enough, then it's as much like Carbon Grey as anything!

Rolfe.

I posted the exact details from VWuk from a thread ages ago.
Good afternoon,

Thank you for your recent enquiry. I am delighted to learn of your continued interest in Volkswagen, in order to request a non standard colour on the order; the retailer will need to request a special build from the factory. If your retailer calls or emails our sales team then they can request this build from the factory.Regards

Most dealer reps im amazed can get dressed in the morning by themselfs and have little interest in the product they sell.

Blue graphite is one of those subtle colours that looks great in the sun - same with shadow blue. Steel grey is underrated but I reckon looks great on the GTI. Although I think the Mk6 looks best in silver or red, I'd probably choose carbon grey. Or perhaps deep black...

That's the real reason why I bought an R in Rising Blue - I couldn't choose a colour for the GTI!

I don't like white that much (are we still allowed to make negative comments under the new regime?)

Go for it tiger. I'll protect you as even they won't beat up an invalid like me!

I would have loved to have a Metallic Red GTI. Though, I'm really falling for Blue Graphite.
