the famous "red lead" connector
« on: 27 December 2010, 20:43 »
i am trying to get my 16v running right in this cold cold weather. i have read the guide on how to set it up to prevent it from stalling. i have check near my coil and i dont seem to have the "Red Lead". i have a U shaped jack plug which connects to the coil.

does the Red lead give the ISV power?? i do have the isv control box which connects to the fuse box.

i am trying to get my 16v running right
Hi
What is wrong with it ?

the car takes about 5 to 10 mins to warm up. cant just jump in and drive.. i have to hold the revs above 1000 so else it will stall.

Hi
Can you see the terminal numbers on the coil ? They are 1 40 15.
The U-shaped connector to terminal 1, what color wires are on it ?

Hi
Well done.
The green is for the tci-h unit.
The red/black is for the rev counter.
If you only have 1 red/black to terminal 1, then the previous owner has bypassed the isv control unit.

the isv control unit gets power from the fusebox, does the isv buzz?  was this a factory 16v or an engien conversion?

the car was converted by the pevious owner, the wiring was a a right bodge job

when i turn the key i hear a bussing noise but i have a feeling that its the fuel pump priming maybe?? when i put 12v to the isv it does click

whats the part number for the ISV?? there seem to be new ones for sale on the bay, i have brought a used one but that seems to be f**ked to

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Corrado-2-0-Idle-Control-Valve-037906457C-NEW-/230566490828?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35aed572cc

this seller says to give the part number on the ISV so they can send out the correct one for the car.
