« on: 24 December 2010, 09:53 »
hey guys got the 5mm spacers put them on and that has brought the edge of the rim away from the shock nicely but the tyre is still on the adjustment collar for the coilover. is this because the rims are 8.5j rather than a 8j??? im on a 235 tyre but even a 225 really wudnt make much difference imo' its that close it may even be touching.what the heck shall i do Arrrgggghhh

How about taking them off and putting the old ones back on until you work out what YOU want to do, instead of a load of people on the internet....

if you have spaced them and they are still touching then

a, do as slick said

2, space them 10mm

or my choice

iii, research tyre size, rim width and offset FIRST then purchase and fit without issue.

Merry Christmas

your going to have to take them off as you cant drive it like that. then do some research into what spacers your'll need.

I would have went with No3 :lipsrsealed:

From reading your other threads, it would appear you have brought the wheels on a whim without the proper thought of whether they would fit or not.

Thus, my above comment is so that
A) you can use the car over the xmas period without damaging the wheels anymore,
B) allow you to sit down as research just what you have brought and what will actually fit
C) stop stressing out over it as you'll get in to the OMG OMG OMG frame of mind over what is meant to be a relaxing time.

To be honest, I think the original wheels are ok, just the centres need painting white, and the grill sections back to red.

the grill sections are black its old pic in sig strip. the wheels are 19 8.5j et35 5x100pcd they shud fit i think its just cuz of the coilovers up front. thats the only issue. im not obviously gona run the car like it is but just to see without putting bolt in or dropping down im gona use the 5mm spacer i have for other side offer them up together with the wheel while the car is in the air to see if that helps then if so i know 10mm spacers will fix it. what u think???

i just tried putting the two spacers together purely to check clearance not to run it like that obviously it did bring the tyre about 2mm away from the coilover adjuster collar. the place i got the 5mm spacers from do a 12mm so i think i will go for those to get that extra 2mm clearance however this will push wheel right out to arch so will look silly so i better do same on the rear of the car to balance the look maybe some 15mm one on back.think this would be best option otherwise i wud have to either; buy two new alloys in a 8j rather than 8.5j they are now, or run 5mm spacers with 215 tyres which wudnt be much better and cost allot and alot of pissing about. whats the thoughts? just go for the 12mm on front 15mm on rear and be done with it??
