Gone and done it - GTD on order! (Cancelled!)

Well, after a lot of reading on these forums, I have gone and ordered a GTD. No idea on delivery times just yet, but expect it to be late April / early May.

Managed to get 6% out of the dealer with a lock in a price for my 10 year old GTI TD 130 (which I will miss), reg transfer and a few other bits.

I now need to find a good insurance company that can give me price protection on the new car for a few years - any ideas? I know VW do this, but they might not be the best option (at ~£600 for the three years.) Time is on my side, thankfully.

Still feeling a little woozy in ordering a car that costs so much, but I now can't wait for it!

nice one mate, fancied one of these myself but went for the petrol in the end, i have the same gt tdi car on 52 plate, solid runner but not getting rid of that for a while ..

if u mean GAP insurance? search through the threads to find that , but recall ALA have been used, , dealer £600? WTF i'd have laughed my head off... will go for this when my time comes

Yes, I do mean the GAP insurance. Does the dealer option for ~£600 sound like a good deal - is that what you mean?

How long will it be before my dreams stop being made up almost entirely of selection options from a spec list? Might suggest some of the options dreamt about to VW - they'd sure sell!

NO, the dealer one is a rip off.

I'm sure Ala were the cheapest for me about £160 odd plus if you go via an affiliate link like www.quidco.com you usually get another 10% or so back making it even cheaper.

Thanks for the advice! I was always a bit hesitant to buy anything other than the car and servicing from the dealer.

Congrats on the new car purchase. Haggle with your dealer over the GAP insurance. I got mine for about the same as I could buy online in the end.
