Well i've decided not to make any rash decisions, so i won't be selling the GTi just yet. I'll make it through this winter and decide later on in the summer.

Which ever way i go, winter tyres will be cheaper to buy then and if i do decide to part with the GTi the "Toerag" should be as well.

So i'm not going anywhere just yet

That makes good sense mate......  I would have thought the Touareg Forum would have been a bit boring anyway...!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you guys here for the advise you game me in the build up to ordering and getting me through the build period. Unfortunately i'm going to be parting with the GTi, despite only owning it 6 months.

It's been a superb, car but in our current situation we really need a car that can make it out and about in this snow. Sticking with VW, but going to hunt down a 57/08 plate Touareg. Can't afford not to make it into work.

It's been very entertaining reading some of your threads over the years, especially the arguments/debates!!!

I think after the new year i'll advertise the Gti.  Sad times!

Thanks again all and merry Christmas!

Why not a Golf R ?

Kev,

Had an r32 before the GTi, that did pretty well, i did get stuck once and had to dig myself out. I think with the recent stuff it would struggle. It was above the fog lights on the the mrs's Golf GT.

Ah ok, good luck with your new car then mate.

I bought 4 16" x 6" vw caddy steelies from ebay for £100 and had Goodyear ultra grip 7+ 205/55/16 fitted for £300.

Had them on for 2 weeks in which time i have driven 1500 miles

1 trip to Aviemore in Scotland very bad conditions for weekend skiing. rest local driving in 8" deep snow / compacted snow / slush / up hill/ down hill. These things are awesome.

I am still shocked how good these things are. Best item i have EVER bought for a car.

Keep the GTI, Buy some Winters, Forget the Toe Rag.

VW should consider adding this as an option. Winter tyres/wheels swapped and stored for 3 years.

Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
