Speedo Cable, is it on properly?
« on: 19 December 2010, 17:44 »
Hi - Firstly, apologies for a probably stupid question but... I have looked all over before posting this.  After reading the guide and changing over the cluster lights I really struggled to get the speedo cable back on behind the clocks, to what felt right, it felt more like it was half on.  The speedo works, are there any other problems if its not on correctly??

Thanks

Did it click in place ok? Is it making a noise when driving? Should not be a problem.

I didn't really feel a solid click, I spent ages on it as virtually no slack in the cable.  I have had a starting/idling issue quite soon after and don't know if this could be related?

Sometimes its more like you hear the click, than feel it, if its working OK that would suggest that its all the way home, and don't need a lot pressure to push into place if properly aligned..
Unless you've disturbed a wire or the like while doing the speedo cable, or have a faulty clock cluster, there is nothing that should affect the way the car runs, the cable is a purely mechanical connection..
