R lights will be my first real mod in the new year. I should have done them at the group buy time. I feel so dated now when I look at the rear of my car now. Either that or I might go over to the dark side and look at an R.

R is not the dark side. Thats the TDI/GTD side. I know what you meen about the lights too i should have got them aswell.

Without wanting to go off topic just let me know in the new year if your both interested and I am sure we can sort out the GB price for a couple of sets

The snow chains coment reminded me of this photo i noticed in another post. I wonder if he could have got up your hill  

As that BMW is RWD, would you surmise that he should have the chains on his rear wheels or better still have all four wheels chained?

As I see it, I don't think he will go far in the pictured condition.

Or, am I missing something?

I'm not even sure winter tyres would have got me up this hill tbo it was an absolute nightmare (but I'm sure the winter tyre brigade will tell me different).

I'm not knocking winters by the way... I'll just have to budget for them next year as its a bit late now! Roll on xmas and then the summer

Winter tyre brigade here and yes, without a doubt, you would have got home.

Shambles with the Polo. Those tyres on it have hardly any tread left. Gave me a dangerous/useless courtesy car. It was that or the Twingo.

At least I live in London where things are not as bad, though they were bad enough for me today.

Am already setting-up new wheels and tyres in motion for this winter which is probably going to be a long one.

The snow has mostly melted now but there is a great deal of black ice.

Maybe I'll just buy two winter tyres and put them on the front axle.
